YMCA Annual Campaign Hits Milestone

August 7, 2025

For the first time in its history, the YMCA of Central Stark County has raised $1 million through its Annual Campaign, thanks to the generosity of more than 2,000 donors and the dedication of volunteers and staff across the association’s branches.

“This achievement is a first in our YMCA’s history—and what a moment it is,” said Maureen Ater, Board Chair and longtime volunteer. “Every dollar raised means more kids learning to swim, more seniors finding connection, and more families getting the support they need. That’s the kind of community I’m proud to be part of.”

The Annual Campaign provides critical financial assistance and access to YMCA programs and services, ensuring that no one is turned away due to inability to pay. From child care to senior wellness programs, these funds help remove barriers to participation and foster inclusive, supportive environments for all.

“This milestone is a testament to the dedication and passion of our volunteers, staff, and, of course, our donors,” said Rich Micelli, Chief Executive Officer. “The real winners are the people we serve every day—youth, adults, families, and seniors—who rely on the Y as a place of connection, growth, and support.”

The campaign’s success also reflects the association’s commitment to its core mission of strengthening community. “The Y takes care of people of all ages—from the youngest child to our cherished seniors—providing programs and support that truly change lives,” added Ann Doan Conkle, Schalmo Family Y Board Member.

Michelle Aladich, Chief Development Officer, noted, “This incredible milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our community. Together, we’re empowering the Y to continue making a lasting impact.”
