Class Observation
Poolside observation of classes is the last week of class only. This allows the classes to continue with as little distraction as possible. Parents and guests are asked to remove street shoes and sit on the bleachers. Other children must remain seated on the lowest bleacher and be attended by an adult at all times.
Parent/Child Swim Lessons

Parent accompanies child in water
-
Primary objective is to get both parent and child comfortable in the water - parent will be taught how to each his/her child to be safe in and around water
-
Allows child to have fun while parent guides him/her to learn aquatic skills
-
Child must wear cloth diaper with plastic pants and swim suit, or swim diaper with swim suit

All classes are 30 minutes

Preschool Swim Lessons

Classes are for children ages 3 - K

This is a three level program
-
Parent does not accompany child in class
-
Teaches the basic skills of swimming, including pool safety, boating safety, and the use of personal flotation devices (PFD)

Blue Nautics Swim Team

Must be a Y member

Minnow I swimming ability or capable of swimming two lengths of the pool and approved by the coaches

Practice Tuesday through Friday

Swim meets are held at home on Tuesdays, and away on Wednesdays

Lap Swim/Open Swim

Lap Swim Policy
-
Open to all members
-
Lanes are reserved for lap swimmers
-
Children under 6 must be accompanied in the water by an adult at all times

Deep Water Test
-
Ages 6 to 15
-
Swim one length of the pool (25 meters) front crawl with face in the water
-
Must use rotary breathing
-
Above water arm recovery
-
Jump into deep end and resurface
-
Tread water for 30 seconds
-
Float on back, then rotate to prone/standing position
-
Test will be renewed each June
-
Patron may be asked to retake the test at the lifeguard's discretion
