North Canton Gymnastics Shines at National Meet
Team Success
The North Canton YMCA proved to be one of the nation's top programs, earning outstanding team finishes across multiple divisions, including:
- Boys Level 4 –1st Place
- Girls Level 2 – 2nd Place
- Girls Level 3 – 7th Place
- Girls Level 4 – 6th Place
- Girls Level 7 – 12th Place
- Girls Level 8 – 5th Place
- Girls XceL Platinum – 18th Place
Individual National Champions
Noelle Hammer (Xcel Platinum)
- 1st Place – All-Around
- 1st Place – Vault
- 1st Place – Balance Beam
- 3rd Place - Floor Exercise
Aleksia Jacoby (Level 8)
- National Champion – Floor Exercise
- National Runner-Up – All-Around
- 2nd Place - Vault
- 3rd Place - Balance Beam
Zora Pavichevich (Level 7)
- 1st Place – Vault
- 2nd Place - Uneven Bars
- 5th Place - All-Around
All-American Honors
Brooklyn Maurer (Levels 9 & 10) earned All-American honors after finishing:
- 3rd Place- Floor Exercise
- 4th Place - Vault
- 8th Place- All-Around Nationally
Outstanding Individual Performances
Across the competition, North Canton YMCA athletes earned numerous podium finishes and Top-8 rankings, including:
- Lucas Walsh – Men's Level 3 All-Around Champion, Champion on Pommel Horse, plus Top-5 finishes on five additional events.
- Benjamin Shaffer – Men's Level 4 Champion on Floor Exercise and Parallel Bars.
- Ian Clugston – Men's Level 4 Champion on Floor Exercise, plus four additional Top-4 finishes.
- Giovanni Manzonie – Men's Level 4 Champion on Vault and Runner-Up in the All-Around.
- Mitchell Deierling – Men's Level 4 Runner-Up in the All-Around with six podium finishes.
- Alliana Castile – Level 7 Champion on Balance Beam.
- Sophia Zarconi – Level 2 Champion on Floor Exercise and Balance Beam.
- Eva'Lene Fontes – Level 3 Champion on Vault.
In total, North Canton YMCA gymnasts earned dozens of podium finishes and well over 100 Top-8 event and all-around placements, reflecting the depth and strength of the program.
"Our athletes represented not only the YMCA but our entire community with incredible determination, sportsmanship, and pride," said Mike Hickey, Gymnastics Director at the North Canton YMCA. "The results speak to the countless hours our gymnasts, coaches, and families dedicate throughout the year. Winning national championships is exciting, but seeing so many athletes achieve personal bests and contribute to team success makes this accomplishment even more special."
The YMCA National Gymnastics Championship & Invitational, held June 27-July 1 in Greensboro, NC, brings together the top YMCA gymnasts from across the United States to compete against the nation's best. The North Canton YMCA's success reflects the organization's commitment to developing athletes through quality coaching, character development, and a supportive team environment.
