Teaming Up

Jr. Charge Team With YMCA of Central Stark County

CANTON – The Canton Charge, powered by the NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers, have partnered with the YMCA of Central Stark County to form the Jr. Charge basketball program for the 2016-2017 season. The partnership offers registered YMCA youth basketball participants the opportunity to attend clinics with Charge players, Canton Charge coaches clinics, exclusive fan experience packages and tickets to attend various Charge games throughout the year.

“We are very pleased to extend and grow our partnership with the YMCA,” Charge SVP/COO Mike Levy said.  “Through the Junior Charge Program, we look forward to promoting our shared values of social responsibility and youth development throughout our Stark County home.”

The Jr. Charge partnership kicked off with a skills clinic at the Lake YMCA on November 15, which included 200 Jr. Charge participants and the entire Canton Charge team and coaching staff.  The Charge players and coaching staff provided a high energy camp and related to all the youth on their level through personal engagement and activity.

On December 16th, it’s Lake YMCA Night at the Canton Memorial Civic Center as the Charge take on the Delaware 87ers!  Twenty Jr. Charge participants randomly selected to be "bench buddies" will be on the court during pre-game warm-ups and the national anthem.  An additional 20 Jr. Charge participants will be randomly selected to be on the court for the post-halftime high five tunnel.

Local coaches affiliated with the YMCA of Central Stark County are invited to join the Charge Head Coach Nate Reinking and his staff for a “Chalk Talk” Coaches Clinic on December 19th at the Paul & Carol David YMCA (7389 Caritas Cir. NW, Massillon, OH 44646).  YMCA coaches will be able to learn teaching principles from the Canton Charge coaching staff.

The next Jr. Charge skills clinic is scheduled for Thursday, March 2, 2016 at the North Canton YMCA (200 S Main St., North Canton, OH 44720).  Jr. Charge participants from the North Canton YMCA, Paul & Carol David YMCA, Myers Lake YMCA, Eric Snow YMCA & Louisiville YMCA will receive guidance from Charge players and coaching staff.

On March 4, 2016, it’s YMCA of Central Stark Night at the Canton Memorial Civic Center as the Charge host the Fort Wayne Mad Ants! Jr. Charge participants that are not able to attend can redeem voucher for any other home game this season.

The Jr. Charge program offers numerous package benefits including fan experience packages, basketball clinics, Canton Charge player appearances, and complimentary tickets to future 2016-2017 regular season games to be used as fundraiser, raffle or auction items.
