In It Together

“Push yourself again and again. Don’t give an inch until the final buzzer sounds.”

– Larry Bird

Hi! My name is Michelle and I have been a fitness instructor at the Alliance Family YMCA for almost three years now. Usually, you’ll find me there teaching cycling and Pound classes a few times a week. I absolutely love the YMCA and all of our members and I feel extremely lucky to work with such an amazing group of people every day – both my co-workers and class participants!

I am originally from Akron but moved to Alliance 15 years ago when I got married. My husband Mike and I have two kids, Lindsey and Ryan. Lindsey loves her horse and Ryan loves his monster trucks. As those of you with children know, they keep me busy all week, along with my full time job as a claims processor, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

But, back to the YMCA. I absolutely love teaching classes at the Y. I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know everyone and am constantly inspired when I see just how supportive everyone is of each other. Exercise and getting in shape is tough work. But, it’s much easier with support and encouragement. It can be tempting to give up at times but you have to keep pushing yourself! It’s such a great feeling when you walk in to the room and the people there welcome you with positivity and open arms. I can’t imagine it any other way!

As a fitness instructor and person who has struggled with her weight her entire life, I want every one of all ages and stages to know that the door is always open here at the YMCA. I used to be the person in the back hiding while taking fitness classes. Now, I’m the person up front. If I can do it anyone can! The weight loss/health game can be a struggle but know we are in it TOGETHER! And, I hope everyone agrees: We have a lot of fun doing it!
