Wellness Activities

Wellness 101

  • Free to all members age 13 & older
  • Gradual progression of physical activity for 6 wks – 1st two wks include cardio exercise ONLY; strength training incorporated 3rd wk
  • Emphasis on nutrition using USDA Food Pyramid Guidelines
  • YMCA–trained Wellness Coach follows-up on progres

Personal Training 

  • One-on-one sessions regardless of age or fitness level
  • Customized fitness program designed by YMCA-certified Personal Trainer to meet individual, specific needs and goals
  • Want to share your Personal Training with a buddy?
  • Try our Partner Personal Training for one hour

Fees: Member: (1)  One-hour Session  -    $35
                     (6) One-hour Sessions -   $200
                     (12) One-hour Sessions -  $400
                     Partner Personal Training-$45
                     (approximately 1 hour session)

 

Body Composition           $15

  • Measures body fat percentage

 

Fitness Classes

Women on Weights

  • Teaches women the basics of strength training using free weights
  • 2 separate classes will run one day a week for 6 weeks
  • Class size limited to 4 participants in each class
  • First session:  September 15 - October 20, 2009

Second session:  October 27 - December 1, 2009

Future Fitness Club  

  • Collaboration with Akron Children’s Hospital
  • Community based weight management program for children ages 8-13
  • Designed to encourage gradual, safe weight loss while helping participants develop the knowledge and habits needed to maintain good health
  • Learn about healthy fitness and eating habits while participating in games and other non-competitive activities

Spring Session Dates:  May 11 thru July 3, 2010    

Tuesdays, Thursdays -4:30 pm -5:30 pm; and Saturdays-11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Fee  $15 / month Member & Non-member
