This summer, the North Canton YMCA had a unique opportunity to fill a community need, strengthen their relationship with a key partner and provide more value for our YMCA members!  Through a collaborative management agreement, the North Canton YMCA began managing all of the operations at Dogwood Pool this summer. 

At the Y, we know that when we are able to work together, we are able to move our community forward.  For more than 170 years YMCA’s have been working to develop solutions to some of the most pressing needs of our communities.  Utilizing the YMCA’s experience, purchasing power and relationships, has allowed the Dogwood Pool of North Canton to flourish to new heights this summer.

Some of the changes that the community has seen this year include: Increased safety with YMCA trained Lifeguards and YMCA swim tests, healthier food options, improved access to information with the extended hours of the community building and improved technology which allows for greater ease of entry and improved security.  In addition, through the YMCA’s relationship with North Canton Medical Foundation, Dogwood Pool is offering complimentary sun screen to everyone at the pool this summer!  A great asset for parents with young children and all sun bathers who may forget to bring protection from the sun.

The community has also gotten behind this collaboration.  Some of the feedback so far is:

  • “We are really happy the Y has taken over running the pool. The staff is fantastic and we appreciate all they do. Definitely feels much safer than it was before.”
  • “I think there are more people this year and I have seen a lot of positives.  Biggest one for me was roping off the different areas - makes the pool safer!”
  • “I love the healthier food choices for my children this year!  100% juice options and fresh fruit are great for a long day at the pool!”

The North Canton YMCA is excited about this opportunity and is committed to continuing to find was to partner with the community.  Working together we can give all people the tools and support to live healthy, connected and secure lives.
