Making a difference in YOUR community

The YMCA is making a difference in the lives of youth in our community. Mandy's father and stepfather both passed away before she reached her teenage years. Her mother had severe hearing loss and was unable to handle the finances, and they lost their home. Instead of turning to drugs or peer pressure, Mandy turned to the Y. Through financial assistance she was able to become a member, join the swim team, and teen leaders club. She later became an exemplary employee of the Y, while maintaining a 4.0 average at school.
Mandy's mother also found comfort at the Y by participating in exercise classes. Eventually she was able to receive assistance for her disability and in finding a place to live. They are a special part of the Y family.
Today, Mandy is a social worker dedicating her life to helping children at risk. And she volunteers at her local Y. Through the Strong Kids Campaign, the YMCA was able to make a difference in Mandy's life and now she is making a difference in the lives of others.
Since 1866, the YMCA of Central Stark County has provided a variety of programs to those who could not afford to participate otherwise.
