The YMCA of Central Stark County was established in 1866 in Canton. Throughout the years, the YMCA has played a vital role across the county by touching the lives of thousands of people each year. The mission of our YMCA stands firm as we continue to work to meet the needs of our community.
YMCA Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
Today, we continue to grow and work with increasing numbers of people. We currently have YMCA facilities in Canton, North Canton, Lake, Louisville, Minerva, Carroll County, and Camp Tippecanoe. The Jackson YMCA is under construction and scheduled to open in December 2006. An addition at Minerva was recently completed and Louisville is raising funds for an addition to their facility.
The YMCA offers programs that emphasize four key values in people of all ages: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. Through swimming and gymnastics lessons, youth sports, teen leadership programs, childcare programs, fitness programs and parent/child activities, we work to impact not just physical skills, but to increase self-esteem and interpersonal relationship development.
