On February 18, 2010, the Norhtern Ohio Golf Charities Foundation held a luncheon at the Bridgestone complex in Akron where they awarded YMCA Camp Tippecanoe and other regional organizations with grant requests to better serve the people of north east ohio. Tippecanoe received $15,000 through the foundation for completion of a new waste water treatment plant at the camp located in Harrison County on Lake Clendening.
The NOGCF foundation is supported through the proceeds from the Bridgestone Invitational held at Firestone Country Club every August. The goal of the foundation is to give back to the communites and the people in the region that volunteer and support the PGA tournament every year.
YMCA Camp Tippecanoe is working to replace the existing waste water treatment plant which has been on the property since the gates opened in 1958. Tippecanoe serves over 400 campers every summer from Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas, Cuyahoga and surrounding counties. The camps alumni base spans over 50 years with alumni working at many of our regional businesses and organizations. Camp has impacted many lives over the years and now the Northern Ohio Golf Charities Foundation is helping to impact many more in the future.
