You know, what’s great about being part of a family like the YMCA? It is that we lend a helping hand to our friends and neighbors when it is needed. Last year we provided assistance to over 1200 kids and families. This support included programs that allowed children to learn how to swim, develop a new skill or have a safe place to go and learn when mom or dad are at work or school. Each year we seek your help for our Annual Strong Kids Campaign. The funds raised provide financial assistance to individuals that may need a little help paying for a program or membership. This year’s goal is based on the overwhelming need and has been set at $30,000. A successful annual support drive allows us to continue our promise that “no one is turned away do to inability to pay”.
I would like to share an excerpt from a letter that we recently received from a father who needed child care for his daughter.
“The daycare that the YMCA has provided for my small family has meant the difference between being on government assistance and not. It is essential to us in that it is part of building a foundation for our family to escape poverty. The workers have been extremely accommodating when it came to special requests in order to help my daughter academically, and she loves to be there and has made many friends.”
We know that we are positively impacting the lives of youth and families daily thanks to our dedicated staff and the generosity of the community.
