YMCA of Central Stark County

To put Christian Principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Making a Difference

Across the United States, more than 500,000 business leaders, community advocates, parents, teens and individuals who want to give back and support their neighbors volunteer at the Y. That's because in 10,000 neighborhoods nationwide we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver positive, personal and social change.

With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, Y volunteers give men, women and children of all ages and from all walks of life the resources and support they need to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.

The YMCA of Central Stark County offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for both individuals and groups. Y volunteers come together from all walks of life with a commitment to helping others and to share their skills and expertise.

This past summer we were so fortunate to have Kelsey volunteer at the North Canton Child Development Center (CDC). She was a former student in our program and knows the ins and outs of our programs and how the center operates. That knowledge was priceless when teaming up with our staff and really reflected in the smiles that she received upon her arrival. Unanimously the staff said that she was an awesome volunteer!

Once a week Kelsey came to spend time in our Yellow Room with the preschoolers, and provided a extra attention to the little ones. She was a GREAT help! Helping out during field trips, playing with the children in small groups and even helping to tuck the kids in for nap, no task was too small for her to do. Her enthusiasm was contagious and fantastic!

The most memorable moment this summer came when we had our Super Hero Scavenger Hunt. Kelsey played a huge part. She dressed up and acted the villain for our hunt! She really gave our kids a summer of FUN!

It is only through the support of our hundreds of thousands of volunteers and donors that we are able to give back to our communities. When you volunteer at the Y, you take an active role in bringing about meaningful change in your community. Volunteering has no age limits as Kelsey has shown us - all it takes is time and passion!

We are THANKFUL to all of our VOLUNTEERS!
