Three years ago, during Thanksgiving week, a member of our community called and needed child care for her two school age children. She had recently relocated to the area from Virginia because she had applied and was accepted to the University of Akron’s Law School. After visiting the area, she decided to settle in the Stark County Area.

The plan was set and in motion with her sister moving with her to watch the children while she attended Law School.  Sounded good up until the moment her sister secured a job. Now frantic to find a trusted place to care for her children, she turned to the Y.  The Meyers Lake YMCA was able to not only enroll her children, but they also provided financial assistance for the children to attend; something the member was not able to afford while attending school.

Currently, this member has graduated from Law School and is gainfully employed as an attorney!  She is one of our biggest supporters because she knows firsthand the impact the Y had on her family. The Y provided her family with the care they needed so she could lead their family to a brighter future.
