It's Official

ENRICHING LIVES TOGETHER

The Canal Fulton YMCA recently became the  tenth branch of the local Y system. The official charter was recently approved by the YMCA of the USA national headquarters. "It's official now.  We have a chartered YMCA for the greater Canal Fulton/ Lawrence Township area" stated Bill Stetler, Superintendent of the Northwest Local Schools. He added, "It's exciting to know that we can grow and serve our children and families, adults and seniors under the leadership of our community members who are members of the local Y Board of Directors."

The Canal Fulton Y will focus its efforts on providing programs and services that are needed in the community through the leadership of Pam Leddon, YMCA Associate Executive Director.  This past year, the Y started providing before and after school childcare.  Financial assistance has already been provided to a number of families in need.  The Y promise is that no one will be turned away from the Y due to an inability to pay.

Michelle Nickodemus, Pastor at St. John Lutheran Church and current Board Chair, said, "The new charter for the Y in Canal Fulton helps to validate our goal of providing quality Y programs to area youth and families.  We welcome the Y to the community and look forward to continuing growth."

The Y is a powerful association of men, women and children of all ages and from all walks of life joined together by a shared vision: to strengthen the foundations of community.  Anchored here and in 10,000 other neighborhoods around the country, the Y has the long-standing relationships and physical presence not just to promise, but to deliver lasting personal and social change.  For more information about the Y, go to www.ymcastark.org or contact your local community Y.
