“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” ― Helen Keller
Great things are brewing in the off-season at YMCA Camp Tippecanoe and you might see things as a little different. Scott Weigley, Camp Director and Carrie Weigly, Program Director, are excited to be working at their new business office located in the Camp Office of YMCA Camp Y-Noah. “So far the energy and enthusiasm that has been generated by working with the Y-Noah staff has been rejuvenating,” commented Scott. “I can see the positive potential for both camps working alongside each other with a common goal of providing the most impactful camp experience to all of our campers.” This move marks the start of possible ventures into combining efforts and resources for the two camps.
At current, the biggest change will be in marketing and promoting the two camps. Pieces like the camp brochure and a new launch site on the web will have both camp names on them, along with a lining up of the names of the programs. One of the major improvements includes a phone line dedicated to camp business that is answered at Camp Tippecanoe’s former line 1-800-922-0679 and the combined line 1-877-GOT-CAMP. Both the directors at Camp Tippecanoe and at Y-Noah are excited about the opportunities for growth and recruitment. This December 12-14, both camps are working together to bring you Winter Camp at Camp Y-Noah with Summer Staff from both camps.
One of the fun challenges has been working towards a common goal while maintaining each camp’s individual identity. Both camps realize the importance of heritage and tradition to their respective Alumni, campers and volunteers and are working to preserve the history at their camps, while providing the best possible camping services to all of Northeast Ohio.
