The Louisville Area YMCA has come a long way since its beginning in 1969 as a store front site. The original building was opened in 1976 with just a pool, locker rooms, activity rooms, and offices. A small addition in 1984 was followed by a major addition in 1990 of a double gym, whirlpool, adult locker rooms, and saunas. The most recent renovation, completed in May 2007, added the Wellness Center, aerobics room, and kitchenette. Expansion of the Child Watch area, lobby, and Member Service desk was also completed with the 2007 renovation.
The Louisville Area YMCA has become the hub of the community, situated in a campus like setting surrounded by the Louisville High School, Middle School, Metzger Park, and walking trails. Programs and activities are provided for youth, teens, families, and seniors. At the Louisville Area YMCA no one is turned away due to the inability to pay. We invite you to visit the YMCA today where we build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.
